Disappointed

I've been trying really hard to keep my mouth shut over the past day and a half about all that I've "seen" on Facebook.  I must say that I'm really disappointed in the way that some people have acted online over the course of the election.  This is not a political post, it is not a political rant, it is not saying whom I'm for or whom I'm against.  Most of the time, I try to make light of certain situations because it amazes me how people get their panties in a wad when things don't go their way. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, why do people think complaining on a Facebook status is going to change someone's mind or make you "see" their side?  It's not only with the political posts, but the people who keep complaining about people posting about the election, or I'm going to unfriend you.  Have we become so shallow as adults that we have to act like children on social media sites?  I wonder so many times what God thinks of us. His very own children acting like a bunch of 2 year olds arguing over this or that.  As a U.S. Citizen and coming from a long line of Veterans in my family, I truly understand the importance of elections and voting.  I'm with everyone on that, but I also remember a time when voting was a private thing. We never used to discuss publicly who we were voting for. Now it's just out there for all to see.  Is this a good thing? I think not because all it does is fuel tempers amongst our brothers and sisters.  I have friends on both sides. Do I get annoyed by reading some of the posts? Absolutely, but do I feel the need to slam my friend because he or she doesn't feel the way I do about a political candidate or something in our society?  We wonder why our country is going down the tubes...the biggest reason is because we can't get along. We are too busy arguing with one another and forgetting God, it's all about ME.  We are full of rage and anger. We are selfish. I want what I want, and I don't care about you. It's my way or no way.  Are you getting what I'm saying?  Is it any wonder the world doesn't want any part of being a Christian? I certainly wouldn't when I've seen more claws come out between my Christians friends than I have my non-Christian friends on Facebook.  It saddens me, it disheartens me...it completely and utterly disappoints me how we act.  So many of our brothers and sisters are hurting in the Northeast and do we care? Sure doesn't seem that way because we are too busy wasting time online arguing, posting a status every 10 minutes because someone else has made us mad or claiming to be more patriotic than someone else.  Why don't we spend this time praying? Praying for the hurting affected by Hurricane Sandy.  What about the people in other countries who would give anything to just have a drink of clean water or even have the privilege to vote.  I'm not knocking anyone in this post, because I'm talking to me, too, but where are our priorities?  Why are we fighting?  Just because you don't agree with me or I don't agree with you, doesn't mean we can't be friends.  It hurts my heart to see us hurting Jesus the way we do. It hurts my heart knowing that we all have non-Christian friends on our friends lists watching all of this. They are watching what you type, and they are asking, "Why on earth would I want any part of this Christian thing?"  So before you type the next status update, ask yourself if it's encouraging to people reading or if it's going to tear someone down.  Life is too short for us to be at each others throats, and if we're walking with the Lord, we should all be walking in love.  I completely agree that we need to stand up for our beliefs as Christians, but arguing with someone is not the answer.  So yeah, I have to say that I'm disappointed in what I've been observing recently.  I can only imagine what our God must be thinking, and to tell you the truth, I don't know why He puts up with any of us.  He is a patient God, and for this I'm SO thankful, but I'm seeing His patience beginning to wear out. We are not getting it, instead we are still fighting.  Nothing ever gets solved by fighting and arguing, but by prayer.  Maybe we should spend more time on our knees and less time on our phones and computers (guilty).  Oh how life was so much simpler in the days before technology. I sometimes think technology has been our major downfall because it's become our addiction.  We've put our gadgets before God (guilty).  I love you all, encourage someone today, and make someone's day a little brighter by showing the love of God.   God Bless!!
