2012 Christian Acappella Music Awards

Wow! What a great weekend it has been. Super busy, but super FUN!!  Durant was invited to sing and participate in the 2012 Christian Acappella Music Awards (CAMA).  We sang at a matinee on Friday that was lots of fun, and Saturday night was the official awards show that we were blessed to be a part of.  I've never been a part of a BIG awards show, so this was a really cool experience.  Not to mention, I met some really wonderful people and the voices...WOW! Talk about some power houses!!  I think my hair was blown back more than once on Saturday night by the power!! haha!  Each group that performed Saturday night was asked to sing one song.  If you haven't seen Durant, this won't make any sense, but those of you who have seen Durant will get it.  We have a pretty wide repertoire, which is good because it gives us a lot of different songs to choose from.  We wanted to do a song that would blow people away, so we chose one of our really high energy songs, "Ride the Chariot". It has powerful chords and an ending that will blow YOUR hair back.  :-)  We gave it all we had Saturday night, and I think the crowd really enjoyed it.  I know we sure had a blast!  As the night progressed, they gave an award  for "Music Video of the Year".  Our very own, Melissa Lancaster (who founded Durant 8 years ago), won the award for this with her video, "Captive".  I've posted it at the bottom of this blog, so check it out. I'm also proud to say, I was blessed to be a small part of helping her with this video.  There is no one who deserved this award more than Melissa.  Melissa would never make a big deal out of any of this because she is not that way, so I will make a big deal about her. :-)  She is one of the most talented people I've ever known, but yet she is the most humble person I've ever known with a love for God and a servant heart that goes beyond description. She does many things "behind the scenes" for people that you would never know. She is a silent servant in many areas of her life, yet she is not ashamed to share her faith for our God with all she comes in contact with. She is truly an angel.  I am blessed to be able to call her friend and sing with her. I'm not sure why the Lord blessed me to do this, but I cannot thank Him enough because my whole experience singing with Durant, which is a part of Acappella Ministries, has just been incredible and a dream come true.   There are no words to describe how humbled and thankful I am to be a part of all of this.  I'm constantly telling one of the guys in Durant, "Is this really happening to us?"  :-)  I never dreamed the Lord would take me, someone so small, and use me in the capacity that He is.  It is just overwhelming, and I am living proof that God can use ANYONE in ANY capacity for His Kingdom, so don't think YOU can't be used.  You just have to listen for His voice and be ready!! And that was something I was shutting out for a long time.  All of this to say, I am blessed beyond words!!!  It was a weekend I'll never forget!! God Bless!!
