Well, once again, I have decided to do the Country Music 1/2 Marathon which comes around every April. At least my plan, as of now, is to do it. So I decided today that I need to discipline myself and start training. Yes, this means fall, winter, spring, no matter what the climate, I've got to get out and get with it. Most people think I'm crazy for doing this, but it is the biggest adrenalin rush ever! The last one I did was in April 2006. My very good friend, Teresa, was always the one to help me stay disciplined to training. She is now married, and a missionary in India, so I just HOPE I can do this without her here with me in person to help me out. Teresa, if you're reading this, you better be after me on email to hold me accountable. :-) So to those of you out there reading this that think they want to give this 1/2 marathon a try with me, let me know! I'm looking for a "few good men (and women)" to come along for the fun. You will never feel a bigger adrenalin rush than running/walking with thousands of people, hearing music on your walk/run, and people standing on the side lines cheering you on. It's SO much fun! I can hear some of my readers saying "Yeah, right!" :-) I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Halloween used to be one of my favorite holidays as a kid. DUH, I wonder why? :-) Kids always love Halloween. I wonder just how much candy is consumed at this time of year?? ha ha! I'm sure all parents love to have their kids hyped up on sugar. My parents were always good to "monitor" how much candy my brother and I consumed. Probably a good thing, I'm already hyper enough without sugar. :-) I think the most fun I ever had around Halloween was when I was older, and we did the forbidden "TPing", or as they say down here in TN "rolling". I will never forget doing this one year when I was a Senior in high school. A couple of my friends and I (of course is it was MY idea, I know you are all shocked) went TPing, me being the brilliant person I am, decided to go TP some twins that I had a crush on. Well, I'm driving, we go to the house that I thought was their house. We sneak up to the house and probably threw one roll when we start hearing dogs barking and running after us, and then a guy comes out with a shot gun. The next thing I know, we are running for our lives, I tripped and fell, and got mud all over me. We were scared to death. My friends were about ready to kill me. Best I recall our night ended there, other than a trip to McDonalds for some hot chocolate. On Monday morning, I'm talking to the twins mom about the whole incident she says "That was you?? You did get the wrong house, that was my father-in-law's house, and he was just messing around." Oh gee, well I'm glad he thought it was funny because we sure didn't. I don't think I've been TPing since. HA HA! Oh the memories of small town livin'! May you all have a wonderful Halloween, and not be chased by any dogs or shot guns! Please feel free to share some good Halloween memories with me!

Texting Scriptures!

Sometimes at work, I have the most random thoughts hit me. Ok, so it's not just at work, but other places too. Seems like it's mostly at work though because I'd rather be anywhere than there. ha ha! You can laugh because I know many of you feel the same way. :-) I've already covered in a previous blog about my "texting addiction". You can laugh at that too, but we all have "addictions", many of you can't survive without your TV, or talking on the phone, there's really no difference when it comes down to it, we all have "things" we can't live without. So I was thinking at work yesterday that it might be a cool idea to start texting scriptures to friends. Sometimes we are so focused on this world, that we forget to focus on the Bible and eternal things. If I do nothing more than send a verse of scripture to friends at least once a day, that's more than not doing anything at all. And you never know, someone in your group that you text might be having a really rotten day, and that scripture reference just might be what they need to pick them up. I have a few friends in my circle that I texted yesterday and today, and honestly, this is really the first explanation they've gotten of WHY I'm doing this. So now you guys know...IF you're reading this blog like I told you to do. :-) If I have your number, and you would like to be a part of this "texting scripture group", just let me know, or if I don't have your number, email that info to me as well, and I'll get you on the bandwagon. Please DON'T put your cell number on here for the whole world to see...email me directly please, for your safety. :-) I encourage the ones I've been texting to send back scripture to me as well, and I want to say a special "thank you" to Nancy who sent me one today. It just helps as a pick me up during the day to receive a scipture text! If I'm gonna have this "guilty pleasure", I need to be using it to encourage and edify others. I hope you all will join in with your friends, and start texting scripture! You just don't know whose day you will make by doing so! God Bless!

SIT UP STRAIGHT!!!
So I want to know how many of you out there have gone to chiropractors, and what do you think of them? Did they help you?? Do you think they're crazy? What was the strangest thing they've ever done to you?? This blog is for you guys too, so bring on the comments! You don't have to sign your life away to leave one, you can even make up a "fake" name. Some of my friends do that...so let's hear your stories! :-) Just be sure to email me if you use a fake name so I'll know who you are. :-) You'd be surprised at how people love to read the comments, so let's have it. Am I begging enough?? HA HA! I recently started going to a chiro about a month or so ago. I was having some bad pain in my upper back, and shoulder like I'd never felt before. It was running down my right arm, so I thought I might have a pinched nerve or something. I'd been reluctant to go to chiros as I've heard "they're quacks" pretty much my entire life, and they just keep you coming back. Well, maybe some of them are, but I'm here to say that the guy I'm going to has helped me 100%. I was diagnosed with something called "Anterior Head Syndrome" or otherwise known as "Old Lady Hump" (No comments from the peanut gallery! ;-) ). You know, that hump that women get on the back of their necks when we are older, and your neck and head sticks out forward like a turtle, that's the best analogy I could come up with. :-) If you're a guy, don't think you're immune to this syndrome because you can have it too, and I've seen guys with it. Remember when we were kids and mom said "Sit up straight!!" Well, many of us should have listened but because we didn't, and countless hours of slouching, and playing video games (Yay Atari 2600!!) we are paying the price. Now days we have computers, laptops, desk jobs, soft couches and chairs,...the list goes on of why, and how we get "Anterior Head Syndrome". It's funny how I notice everyone's posture since going to the chiro. I'm standing straighter now then I have probably since I was 5. I think my friends think I've become the "Posture Police" because I'm always saying "Stand up straight!!" :-) I bet I'm 2 inches taller, ok maybe not, but I am taller. :-) The human body is amazing. It will heal itself if we choose the right care, and eat the right foods, AND drink the best drink around...WATER!!! We can feel fabulous if we CHOOSE to. I fully believe in chiropractic care, and have felt better than I have in years! Today I had my feet and toes popped, I've been punched in the rear end, my neck popped, and "karate chopped" on my collar bone. Probably sounds painful, but you would be suprised at how great you feel after you have it done! So what have your experiences been at the chiro? I'm waiting for your stories, so bring it!! Have a great day!

Are You Addicted??
Now there's a loaded question!! I think we are all addicted to something. I'll use myself as an example, I'm "addicted" to the internet, Facebook, junk food (that's really my weakness and I'm working on eating better!), music, sleep, Fridays, guys...ok, not really guys, I just threw that one in there.
Anyway...there are lots of things I'm "addicted" to. You know, addiction is always viewed (or most generally) as a bad thing. Well what about being ADDICTED TO GOD?? Man, how awesome is that?? If I could only be as addicted to God like I am the internet, that would just be incredible! I do find the more time I spend with him, the more addicted I become, and can hardly wait to spend even more time with him. We get so caught up in the things of this world with our jobs, friends, families, extracurricular activities, fill in the blank, that sometimes, we just don't "get addicted" enough to God! Anyway, I want and long to be ADDICTED to my God!! How bout' you?? What are some ways you have become "addicted" to God? Hope you're having a great Sunday!!

I got this picture in an email the other day and it just cracked me up! I hope it will bring a smile to your face as well! I hope you all have a wonderful Friday, and an even better weekend! My parents are coming to town, so I'm looking forward to spending some time with them. Have a wonderful day!!!

Could You Do It??

My friend, Patricia, went on a church retreat this weekend. It starts tonight, and lasts until Sunday. The catch?? You can't bring a watch, cell phone, laptop...any electronic device whatsoever. If you're like me, you're thinking "WHAT?" How could one EVER survive without these things? I have often wondered how we ever survived before cell phones, internet, laptops, and ahem....FACEBOOK?? :-) I'll be the first to admit, I am an addict to texting, email, Facebook, laptops, computers, cell phones, iPods, you name it..if it's got buttons to push, or alerts that say "You've got mail!" (in not so many words), I'm all over it. I'm a gadget NERD. I drive my family crazy, but they still love me. :-) I've often wondered what in the world I did with my time before "gadgets"? I honestly can't recall, but I'm pretty sure I was off the couch , and outside more. ha ha! So I'm wondering if I could ever go somewhere without these things for 3 days? I am lost if I don't have my cell phone with me, and I'm sure many of you can relate. So what about you guys?? Do you think you could survive 3 days without these things?? What about one week? One month? One year?? Some of you are hyperventalating at the thought of one year without your "gadgets". :-) You may laugh and say "I'm not addicted", but are you sure? I'm pretty sure most of us are. I'm not saying these things are bad to have, I'm just saying that I think sometimes these "gadgets" have taken over our lives. If you had to go without these things for any length of time, how would you choose to spend your time, or what would you do, but the real question is, could you do it? Have any of you been on any sort of retreat like this before?? If you have, please share your thoughts. Have a blessed day!

Gown, You Call That A Gown???
We've all been there, or if you haven't, rest assure, you will be one day! The dreaded "hospital gown"! Need I say more?? Ok, honestly, are they kidding?? Most gowns I wear...let's see, how shall I say....cover me! A mere hospital gown is made out of some kind of funky, thin paper that doesn't fasten! That's not a gown folks!!! A gown does not have a "gaping" in the front or the back in places that shouldn't be gaping. Oh yes, if I am feeling wind in places I should not be feeling wind in public, that my friends is NOT a gown! Even I do not have to go to medical school to tell the difference between a gown, and what's NOT a gown! Are you with me?? Well, I had the "fun experience" today, and trust me, when you go to the dr. you just have to have a sense of humor, because if you don't, it's not going to be a pleasant visit. All of this say, I had an ultrasound done on my heart today. Some of you may or may not know that I've been having some "issues" related to my heart...and I was privileged to get to wear "the gown", or I guess in this case it was "the shirt" because it wasn't a full fledged "gown", but a mere "shirt gown". So anyway, the drs. have been a little concerned with my heart arythmia, so I had to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours about 3 weeks ago. I had several weird episodes while wearing it, and I was informed today that 3 of the recordings were considered "near fatal"...yes, it was that bad. I had been drinking Mt. Dew everyday, and started wondering if THIS might be my problem. I decided to cut out the Dews, and I have been drinking nothing but water for the past 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. Well guess what?? My ultrasound showed no problems whatsoever today!! I'm here to say that IF you drink Mt. Dew, please stop because I am not the only person who has had problems with this soft drink. I know of someone else who was told to stop drinking them, or he was going to die. It was affecting his heart as well. I'm not trying to "preach", but I was told today at the dr. that Mt. Dew has more caffeine than 9 cups of coffee. That is insane! Plus being told you had some "near fatal heart arythmias" is a sure fire wake up call! There will be no more DEW for me, but even MORE water! Hopefully no more "gowns" for awhile, as well. That's one fashion statement I'm good to live without!! :-) Hope you've all had a wonderful day!!

Hope Again Ministries
You guys are getting a "double dose" blog from me tonight. Some of you reading this know my good friends, Brian and Dayna Suttles. What you may not know is they lost their precious baby, Hope, before birth due to some complications in the umbilical chord. I've never lost a child, but some of you reading this may have, and you know firsthand the turmoil and pain it brings. Some people choose to live life in self pity and ask God "Why me?" when bad things happen. But Brian and Dayna have chosen to glorify God, and help other people who have gone through this by creating a website/blog that has been named after Hope Suttles. I ask you to please visit the link that I will post below, and spread it around to those you may know who have had miscarriages, or even those who have had babies, but lost them hours or just days after birth. The internet can be used for bad things, but it is amazing the GOOD things you can find online too. You can talk to people who have gone through the same things you are going through, and you will find it's great therapy! So if you get a chance, please check out their site, and please spread the word about Hope Again Ministries! You won't be disappointed!

TEMPORARY!!!
Well, first off, I guess I should "warn" you all about my blogging. You just never know what I might put on here...I post serious spiritual blogs, to crazy insane blogs. Yes, I know it's hard for you all to believe that moi' would post something CRAZY!!! So consider this your warning, and read at your own risk!! :-) And I'm not good at grammar, so just overlook the grammatical errors. :-)
I've had several things on my mind today to blog about, but as the day progressed, it just wasn't a really "swell" day. I'm not going to make this a "woes me" blog, or complain about my job, but there are just some days that working in the "real world" is not what it's cracked up to be. The garbage I put up with, and probably many of you reading this, just gets to be too much some days. I'm so thankful to Tom Haddon, a member of my church, who taught me in a sermon not long ago about the word TEMPORARY!! That's all this world is, and that one little word is what gets me through the tough times, well that, and my wonderful friends that God has blessed me with, to all of you I say thank you. I've had alot of friends recently going through some tough times too, and I'm sure they can identify with me on the word TEMPORARY. I don't know where some of you reading this are in your walk with God, but I'm here to say, if you're not close to him, how does anything work, or furthermore make sense?? If I didn't have a close relationship with the Father, I seriously don't know where I would be, or how I would ever make it through the tough times. I'm thankful for the "temporary things" here because I know every day is getting me closer to the ETERNAL, and I don't know about you guys, but I certainly can't wait for that glorious day! I hope you've had a good day, and if not, and you take nothing else with you from this blog, remember one word TEMPORARY!!! God Bless!

Mansion, Robe, And "Crown"??
I have really fallen down on my blogging, so I just decided to start fresh!!! So sorry I have been away! I have been “under the weather” for a couple of months, so blogging hasn’t really been “first priority” for me lately, plus you can find I spend alot of my time on Facebook. If you're not on Facebook, I highly recommend checking it out. You will be amazed at the people you will find and reconnect with on there. Much safer than My Space too! I highly recommend it! I have heard “through the grapevine” that a few people have been missing me on my blog…well we’ll see if I can do a better job keeping you all updated on my life on this "new start"! I’ll start off with a humorous story that ocurred at work last week. I have to laugh at some of the incidences that occur at my work place. I was told that a “tooth” was found by a co-workers desk. WHAT?? Yes, this was the story I was told. Well it was actually a silver crown that was found on the floor by a coworker’s desk. The next day as I’m clocking in, the below photos are what I find on our company bulletin board. It’s gross and humorous all at the same time! So, check your mouth, if you’re missing some sliver “bling” in your mouth, it’s waiting for you in Nasvhille!! Have a great day!! :-)
