Touching Hearts Though Music!!

Last night, 1WORD had the honor of singing for a wonderful man who has fought the fight and is heading towards his eternal home. Well, we are all fighting that fight to our eternal home, but some of us are getting there before the rest of us. I had not met Dan Bryson and his family until last night, and it was a pleasure to meet them. Dan is a friend of one of the guy's in 1WORD, and he arranged for us to go sing for Dan last night to just bring him some cheer and lift his spirits. 1WORD sang for him at Vanderbilt Hospital last month, but I was unable to get off work to sing with them, so last night was a real treat for me. It was not easy singing for him as tears of sadness and yet joy filled my eyes. It's sad to think of someone's life ending on this earth, but what a joy to know that it is just a continuation to the next one. I never like to say "goodbye", but rather "see you later." Isn't that the REAL story with life?? I'm looking forward to the day of seeing friends and family who are waiting for me on the other side. I just know my grandma is waiting for me to play a game of Yahtzee with her (her favorite game!!), while drinking her amazing chocolate milk shakes. It just thrills me to think about, and I know many of you reading this have similar feelings of loved ones and friends who are waiting for you, too. So, as I write this blog thanking God for giving me the opportunity to be blessed by a man named Dan Bryson, who did not dwell on his illness, he did not have a "woes me" attitude, but yet was so upbeat and positive, and ever grateful that we came and sang for him. I told Dan as I was leaving that he blessed me more than we probably blessed him, he disagreed, but I KNOW for a fact he blessed me more. Just don't tell him. ;-) I will never forget him joining us in a few songs, and one being my favorite, "Surely The Presence Of The Lord Is In This Place". It was just a moment that you never wanted to end. I want to leave you now with a note his wife posted on his CaringBridge page. It touched my heart, and I hope it does yours, too. I know God was glorified last night by such a small thing we did. You never know whose life you may touch without even knowing. What we did last night was such a simple gesture, but by this note below, you'd think we'd have given them everything. And that's why I LOVE being part of 1WORD!!! To God be the glory...ALWAYS!!!!

Monday morning I had a call from Don Allen who sings in theaccapella gospel group, 1 WORD. He was wanting to know if they could sing for Danny. They sang at Vanderbilt over Christmas and Danny had enjoyed them so much. We talked and last night at 6:30 was the time. I told Danny and he wanted to call a few people. Charles and Cooking Kimbrough, Harry Wallace, Andi,Tony and Jodi were all here. We thoroughly enjoyed over two hours of beautiful singing. Danny sang Amazing Grace and enjoyed it so much. Three o"clock this morning he was sitting on the side of the bed and I asked if he was okay, he said, I have been singing and playing congo drums for three hours. We just laughed. He was talking about how much that had blessed him. He wants to do it again and have a bigger crowd for the group to sing to.

Hospice did not make it yesterday, our phones were out in the morning. We rescheduled for this morning. I will be working from home today. Thanks for the continued prayers and support. God is always good. We cannot go beyond today, one day at a time, it sure makes life easier.
