Another Saint Has Gone Home!
We have all been there, it's that one phone call where the voice on the other end tells you that someone you know and love has passed away. This was me last night. My good friend of 25 plus years, Dayna, lost her father last night. Her dad, Luther, was one of a kind! You just had to know him to understand. Isn't that right, Dayna? :-) He was one of the funniest people on earth, but he would let you know if he was NOT kidding. Dayna and I went to church together, grew up together in the same hometown, and have many memories together from those days. I even went on family trips with her and her folks several times when we were kids. It is hard to believe, Luther is gone. My prayers are with all of his family at this time. The hardest part for me not living in Illinois are the times like this. I'm unable to get off work to come up for the funeral, and it makes my heart sad. The biggest blessing in all of this is knowing that Luther has run his race, and he is now home. I can just hear him rejoicing, and having great conversation with those from our church family who have gone before. I also know he is holding his precious granddaughter, Hope, in his arms, and telling her how special her parents are. I also bet he's already found my grandparents, too. Yes, it is sad to keep hearing of the loss of so many I know, but wow! What an incredible reunion it is going to be with all of those who've gone before one sweet day! They are just waiting for all of us to finish our race. What a sweet day it is going to be, and I cannot wait! Have a blessed day!
